I have known Catherine since I was eight, and I cannot begin to express how much she means to me. Catherine is more than just a teacher: as well as guiding me through to achieve grade 8 piano, she is also a mentor and a friend who continuously offers her support. Words will never be able to express how glad I am that I was introduced to Catherine Harrison. She is truly an incredible teacher. Since starting piano lessons with Catherine I have grown in confidence, had an amazingly fun time during lessons and made some truly special friends who share a passion for music and the arts. Catherine is so enthusiastic and passionate, both as a teacher and a person and she knows how to get the best out of her students. I have worked with Catherine for the past three years on our charity band Soundwall (which has raised over £13k for charity since 2011) and I came to her last year for one to one singing lessons. At the time, I was working at a retail job in which I was aiming to be promoted to a supervisory role as a result of giving up on my real ambitions. The singing lessons were initially just for me recreationally as I love to sing. But Catherine believed in me, definitely more than I believed in myself, and she encouraged/ordered me to apply for an arts course. We’ve worked hard on monologues and songs and I have managed to secure an unconditional offer to study dance and drama and I have since been a dancer in a music video and I played Buckingham in an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Richard III which played at Theatr Clwyd and the Edinburgh Fringe.
